What to include on a Welder invoice
Your invoice needs to show exactly what you welded and how much time it took. Break down materials separately from labor because clients need this for their own accounting and insurance. Include the project location if you traveled to the job site, and note the type of welding you did (MIG, TIG, stick) since different processes have different rates. Add any consumables like gas, electrodes, or filler material as line items.
Most welding jobs work on a deposit system. Ask for 30-50% upfront to cover materials, then bill the rest on completion. For bigger jobs lasting weeks, bill weekly or biweekly so you're not floating costs. Net 15 terms are common for commercial clients, but smaller shops might pay on delivery. Don't start work without that deposit in hand.
