What to include on a Cleaner invoice

Your invoice needs to show exactly what you cleaned and when. Write down the property address, the date of service, and what rooms or areas you worked on. If you did extra tasks like oven cleaning or window washing beyond the regular service, list those separately with their costs. Clients forget what they asked for, and their accountants need this breakdown for their records.

Most cleaners bill after the job is done, either right when they finish or within a day or two. Weekly or biweekly clients usually pay at the end of each visit or get one invoice at month's end. Some cleaners ask new clients for payment upfront until trust builds. Net 7 or net 15 terms work fine for regular customers, but anything longer and you're basically giving them a free loan.

Send your invoice the same day you finish cleaning, while the client can still see and smell the results. They're most likely to pay quickly when they're happy and the work is fresh in their mind. Waiting even two days means your invoice lands in a pile with bills from people they've never met.

Frequently asked questions

How do cleaning services set prices?

Residential cleaning costs $100–$300 per visit based on home size. Deep cleans run 1.5–2x the regular rate. Commercial cleaning is priced per square foot ($0.05–$0.20) or monthly contract.

What should a cleaning invoice include?

Include property address, cleaning type (standard, deep, move-out), rooms or areas covered, add-on services, supplies used, time spent, and frequency if recurring.

Should cleaners supply their own products?

Most professional cleaners bring their own supplies and factor the cost into pricing. If a client requests specific products (eco-friendly, hypoallergenic), charge a small supply fee or have them provide materials.
