Your invoice needs to show the dates you walked each dog, the dog's name, and how long each walk lasted. Include your rate per walk or per hour, whichever you charge. Clients will want to see this breakdown when they're tracking their pet care expenses, and some will submit it for reimbursement through pet insurance or FSA accounts. Add your business name, phone number, and the service address if you walk dogs at multiple locations.

Most dog walkers bill weekly or monthly depending on how regular the client is. If someone books you five days a week, send a monthly invoice. Occasional clients get billed right after each walk. Payment is usually due immediately or within a few days. Don't offer net 30 terms unless it's a corporate client. Some walkers ask for prepayment when starting with new clients.

Send your invoice the same day as the last walk of the billing period, not days later. The faster you bill, the faster people pay because the service is fresh in their mind. Also, keep a simple spreadsheet or use a pet care app to track each walk as it happens. Trying to recreate your schedule from memory always leads to mistakes and disputes.
