Your invoice needs the obvious stuff plus details that matter for landscape projects. Break out design fees separately from site visits and revision rounds. If you're billing for permit applications or consultant coordination, show those as line items. Clients want to see what phase you're charging for because landscape projects drag on. Their accountant will ask for your project number and purchase order if they issued one. Include the site address, not just their billing address, because they might have three properties going at once.

Most landscape architects take a third upfront, a third at concept approval, and a third when construction documents are done. Smaller jobs might be half up front and half on delivery. Net 30 is standard after that first deposit clears. Don't start schematic design until the deposit hits your account. You'll get burned.

Send invoices the day you hit a milestone, not two weeks later when you remember. The closer the invoice is to them seeing the work, the faster they pay. Also, if you did extra site meetings or scope creep happened, note it on the invoice with dates. Clients forget what they asked for.
